Life Insurance becomes confusing when you don’t know what it pays, or when it pays

Neil Smith | Life Insurance Christchurch | Taking the confusion out of life insuranceHi I’m Neil Smith. My clients in Christchurch and Canterbury tell me, the most important thing to them is, that they and the children will be okay, should something happen to them. That is why they take out life insurance. But after a year or two, many families with anything but the simplest cover, face life insurance confusion. These families have little idea how much money will be  paid out in a claim, or when.

Why is this? Because they feel confused by the jargon. That’s why they seek advice.

They know they have “some cover”, but, what they really want to know is how much money their family will have to spend each week when a spouse’s major illness or death strikes at the heart of their family’s ability to manage their day to day finances. They are worried that they pay for too much or not enough. They can’t tell because it is so confusing.

How does advice help you?

Life insurance advice assists you to buy the right amount of cover to provide an extra income for the family. It  prepares families emotionally, strategically, and financially for insurable life events which have no practice run. This is done by working with you to take confusion out of your life insurance. It allows you to see how much income your family will have to spend each week, on the day-to-day bills, if the worst happens to you or your spouse.

Why life insurance is confusing

One Christchurch self-employed person wanted to be sure they knew what on earth they were covered for, and this was the result. “We got our life insurance all at once, and then after some time, someone else came along and said “Can I review that for you?”. While we were talking I realised that they are using totally different terms (specific words for benefits)! Then we ended up even more confused than we were before!”

What impact does this confusion have on your family?

Your confidence in your life cover package is undermined when it is unclear how much money will be paid out if an accident or illness stopped short, your ability to earn money, for 4 weeks or more, due to:

  • a significant sickness
  • a serious accident or even
  • a premature death

often it just leaves you feeling confused, wondering what you are “paying all this money for”?

It becomes even more confusing when you look at what ACC and WINZ may pay as well. You may begin to wonder if there is some sort of double up, and the numbers begin to whirl around in your head.

How I can help you

I’m a registered financial adviser who works with the families of professionals, self-employed and farmers in Christchurch and Canterbury. These people turn to life insurance advice because they want confidence they’ve made the right decision. They are looking for someone to take the confusion and jargon out of their life insurance package.

I’ve developed a unique way of slicing through the confusing jargon and I offer you a great understanding of your how much money you’re likely to be able to spend, in a claims situation. I do this by focusing on what you want to do with the money, when disaster strikes, and not what products you think you’ll need, using a unique Claim Time Income Preview sheet.

My free advice tells you how much I think you’ll have to spend each week or each month, should you suffer a claim, now. I treat your situation today, as if it is a live case study.

Life insurance case study – slow-growing, debilitating disease

Shelly’s story (a live case study, in the video above) is a real life story of how good life insurance advice has supported a family with on-going income in desperate times. It’s a story from a professional, and married with 4 children.

Why a case study will help you

When we make your situation sound like a claims story – your life insurance ‘case study’ will suddenly come to life and you will quickly understand how it all works. If you click on the red button on the right hand column you get to a page that shows you another case study. It is based on the real case of a self-employed electrician, who discovered something wrong with his health, and ultimately discovered he had a critical illness.

Good advice, clearly explained will help you understand if your current life insurance package will provide:

  • enough money
  • soon enough,
  • for the right life events
  • and for long enough to keep your family finances afloat

The purpose of this site

As you follow the links at the bottom of each page, to the next page I suggest you read, you’ll be able to see who I work with, and what makes my hype-free approach to life insurance unique. One way to do this is to look at the case study available on the right hand column.

Three reasons to grab a copy of the case study

Reason 1: There are no pop ups on the screen, demanding you get a copy. That is a clue. Reason 2: I’ve used this approach on my clients and they’ve found it provides real clarity to my advice. Reason 3:I provide my f’ree newsletter as a bonus. There are only a few of my articles about financial advice available on this site, and others are hidden, and will be provided by links in my email subscription, which you get as a bonus. The bonus is the LifeSaver Updates newsletter. This is not the lifelines newsletter you can view from this site.

Finally…

What do others say about the Life Risk Strategy Session? “I was unsure if Neil could help my wife and I as we already had someone who helped us protect our lifestyle and business life risk protection. I soon found out that Neil knew his stuff and my wife and I enjoy great value from our continuing business relationship.”
